Coach Brauer here and I would like to just say I’m very excited about the upcoming season. With that being said I wanted to touch base with everyone on a subject I think is very important to all of us in regards to conditioning and showing up in good shape for the start of practices. Many studies show that conditioned athletes have fewer instances of muscle pulls and strains and they enjoy the sport because there fatigue level is lowered. I know summers can be filled with vacations and recharging batteries for the upcoming school year, the good news is it is not too late to get the process going without taking a lot of time and effort. Start slow, mix in different activities and in no time your conditioning will be acceptable for the beginning of the season. Here’s a few suggestions to start:
1. Sprints – start with going 10 seconds, rest for 20 and then repeat 10 times
2. Sit-ups – do 12 reps. rest 1 minute – do 3 sets
3. Pushups – do 12 reps. rest 1 minute – do 3 sets
4. Up-downs – do 6 reps. rest 1 minute – do 3 sets
If we can have the group in shape to start with we use less time conditioning in practice and more time working on football related activities. Parents thanks for all your efforts in preparing your player for the upcoming season.
